Leading nationwide discount store Home Bargains has been handed the keys to its new, bigger store at Central Square, Maghull, in Merseyside.

The move comes as LCP, which manages the shopping square on behalf of owner Grainrent Ltd, continues with a £1 million investment, which has included reconfiguration of some of the existing 40 units to create an additional 15,000 sq ft retail space.

Home Bargains is almost doubling its space by moving into 10,000 sq ft unit and it has agreed a 15-year lease.

Matt Pegg, asset manager for LCP, said discussions with other national retailers for the remaining were progressing well.

As well as the new retail space, LCP is also planning to improve landscaping works and the public space, along with works to increase car parking spaces from 75 to 97 and improve traffic circulation.

“Central Square is already home to some leading high street retail names and we’ve been working hard to attract new occupiers,” said Matt. “I’m pleased that a number of new retailers will soon be joining us and it’s very satisfying to be handing over the keys to Home Bargains, which has committed to the Square by doubling its space and signing a new lease.”

A spokesperson for Home Bargains said: “While we can’t confirm an opening date just yet, we are currently recruiting for certain roles and would encourage those interested to head to our careers website for more information. As a result of our constant growth, we’re always looking for new staff across the country.”

Central Square, Maghull, is a 58,000 sq ft retail development in Maghull town centre, just eight miles outside Liverpool. It comprises 40 units and occupiers include Costa Coffee, Boots, Thomson, Superdrug, 02, Thomas Cook, HSBC, B&M Bargains, and Dominos.
