This weekend sees Poundland opening its new, bigger and better, store at The Concourse Shopping Centre, Skelmersdale.

Opening on Saturday, February 1, the 12,000 sq ft store – in the former Dunne’s shop – is more than three times bigger than its previous home in the shopping centre and it will include the full range of Poundland’s popular PEP&CO fashion.

The retailer has described its investment in the Skelmersdale store as a vote of confidence in the town. The new store will employ 19 people, creating eight new jobs.

Austin Cooke, Poundland retail director, said: “We have been part of the Skelmersdale community for years and we’re now delighted to be moving to a better store in the Concourse centre. It means we can offer a wider range of everyday products than ever and we look forward to welcoming shoppers through our doors so they can make the most of the amazing value and convenience.”

Andrew Barrett, LCP retail director, welcomed the expansion, adding: “It’s great news that one of our occupiers has committed to an increased presence within the centre and it’s good news for people who shop in Skelmersdale.”
